How not to get deleted from Facebook!
Seriously, who actually reads the Terms of Service for Facebook? Pretty much nobody. So, we scoured the TOS so you wouldn’t have to.
-
Spam
Rule: You will not send or otherwise post unauthorized commercial communications (such as spam) on Facebook.
What it means: Spam is the posting or emailing of unwanted messages, updates or links. It is also sending the same update, message or link over and over and over again. It is unwanted porn links, unwanted money-making scams, illegal services like multi-level-marketing (MLM) schemes. Facebook wants people to use their profiles for cordial communication – friends communicating with friends. So basically “advertising” through your personal account will be considered spam. Though talking about your business on your personal account is ok.

Your Business on Facebook
Rule: You will not use your personal profile for your own commercial gain.
What it means: Your personal profile is meant to be for communicating with your friends. In theory, these are people you actually know. You are supposed to post updates about your life and comment on your friends’ updates. This is not meant to be used for business. You are not supposed to advertise or promote your business, even if you are your business. You can talk about your business, just not in a way that says “come buy my product or service”.

Your Facebook Name
Rule: If you select a username for your account we reserve the right to remove or reclaim it if we believe appropriate (such as when a trademark owner complains about a username that does not closely relate to a user’s actual name).
What it means: Facebook allows you to select a “username” for your account. This lets you identify yourself to your friends in a way other than your real name. If your real name is Jo Smith but everyone knows you as Cool Cat Jack, you can create a user name as Cool Cat Jack. That is the name that will show up on your profile and is the name that your friends will see. But if you chose something that is X rated, or not appropriate, then Facebook can delete your user name. Pick something that is no sexier than a PG 13 rating…to be on the safe side you might even want to keep it PG. Facebook can also drop a user name if you are using someone else’s name – famous brand or person. Because Facebook does not have a verified account system like Twitter, the “owner” of that name generally has to file a complaint that you are using it. So if you are using your stage name you should be fine.

What can I post?
Rule: You will not post content that: is hateful, threatening, or pornographic; incites violence; or contains nudity or graphic or gratuitous violence.
What it means: Basically keep whatever you post to a PG13 rating. Keep the conversation casual. Don’t post links to a porn site. Post links to an intermediate site like a page that has a warning like “this site contains adult material; if you would like to continue click enter”. If you get people who post nasty or threatening things on your site, don’t post mean or hateful comments back. Just delete their comment, or respond with “sorry you feel that way.” If you get mad and say something nasty, you risk getting booted off Facebook.
In the adult industry we have to be extra careful. There is a definite bias against us on Facebook. So to be sure that you are not deleted, you just need to toe the line and always take the high ground. Where other people might get some wiggle room to say ugly things or post questionable content, unless they are doing it all the time it will be over looked. But if we do it, because we are in the adult industry, we won’t be given the benefit of the doubt. So better to be cautious than be deleted.
