10 Reasons to Tweet with Porn Stars

Porn Stars on Twitter

Porn stars are sexy, flirty and show you boobies!

People ask me all the time why people follow porn stars. My first response is usually why not follow porn stars?! But it is undeniable that porn stars have a corner in the market of Twitter. They get huge numbers of followers and are some of the most popular and influential accounts on Twitter.  So why is that?

Here is a list that outlines why people love to tweet with porn stars.

10 Reasons to Tweet with Porn Stars

  1. They post pictures of their boobies
  2. Fans like to know that porn stars are people too
  3. People like to talk about sex and no one does it better than a porn star
  4. They post pictures of other peoples boobies
  5. They talk about the sex they have had, are having, and are going to have
  6. They flirt without worry
  7. Fans like to know what films the stars are working on and what is coming up
  8. Behind the scene photos
  9. They share candid pics that you would never normally see
  10. They are hot!

Ultimately porn stars are stars. Though most are not Hollywood stars, they are stars in their niche.  What makes them so much more interesting than Hollywood stars is that they are accessible.  If you tweet a porn star, there is a good chance they will Tweet you back.  Go tell @JesseJane that she is beautiful. She will likely say something, or tweet a cute emoticon back to you.

So they talk about sex, flirt with you, show you their boobies, show you their friends boobies, and talk to you. So ask me again why you would want to follow a porn star?

Porn Stars Can Write?!? Duh.

, ,
Nina Hartley

Nina Hartley is a great example of an adult star who is also a gifted writer.

Many people are surprised to find out that porn stars can write. There is a public misconception that adult starts are stupid and uneducated.  Well, this is plainly not true. There are many very smart and very talented writers in the adult industry and blogs are giving them a voice where they did not have one before.  Because some porn stars have created blogs, many others are wondering if they should begin one as well.

Blogging is one of the big things you hear people talking about as a necessary addition to any website.  I would argue this point.  There are good and bad things about blogging, but the crux of the issue comes down to the blogger.

You should have a blog if:

  • you like writing
  • you have something interesting to say
  • you have unique content
  • you are willing to make a committment

You should not have a blog if:

  • you don’t really like writing
  • you are only doing it because you think you should
  • you just don’t think you have the time

What you are trying to accomplish?

  • establish authority
  • connect with your audience
  • add value to your website
  • build your brand

As an adult site, blogging becomes a more interesting question.  There are usually one of two things that you want to develop:

  1. Personal Branding
  2. Company Information

If you want to work on your personal branding, a blog is a great way for your audience to get to know you. You can share stories and pictures from behind the scenes from movies and photo shoots. You can give sex tips, modeling tips, workout tips.  You can present your thoughts on the industry and how changes in the industry affect you as an adult star. You can also just be yourself and blog about your life. Many people in your audience want to get to know you on a more personal level. They may feel more of a connection with you if they know what is going on in your life.

If you are using a blog to put your company info forward, you can use your blog to talk about movies you are shooting or the next photo shoot. You can share behind-the-scenes and insider information, even sneak deals in for people who read the blog.  Ultimately you can use it as a way for your audience to get to know your company on a more personal level. This helps create loyalty and trust.

Either way, you are focusing on adding value. If you do not think that you can add value with a blog, don’t do it.  If you cannot be consistent, getting your blog out on a regular schedule (minimum of once a week) do not do it.  If you can’t string two words together without swearing or being incoherent, then don’t do it.  But if you can commit to your communication, and you can add some value to your website, then jump in and start writing!

Porn not Verified on Twitter?

Are you verified on Twitter? Does it matter? Is it important?

For some people getting verified on Twitter is extremely important. Twitter verification is essentially a big blue check mark that says you are the real deal! It is Twitter’s way of establishing authenticity behind a well know and public persona. It is used for public figures, ie. politicians, celebrities, rock stars, etc.

Jenna Jameson verified on Twitter

One issue that a lot of adult stars face is the inability to get verified. Maybe someone already claimed your name and won’t give it up, not doing anything with it, just cyber-squatting.  Maybe they claimed your name to spam.  Maybe they are just posing as you.

Your name is a brand. You have worked hard at getting name recognition and you should be able to reap the rewards, not some random person in cyber-space who doesn’t know you from Adam. What is even worse than someone squatting on your name is if they are spamming or misrepresenting you.  Are they damaging the good name you have built?  This is, of course, why Twitter started verifying to begin with.  But many people in the adult industry have had great difficulty getting verified, or getting Twitter to help them resolve issues of cyber-squatting or spam/misrepresentation.  And yes we speculate discrimination.

Pornstar Tweet felt strong about this issue as well and created their own verification system for the stars they list. They vet the stars on their list and with any they can without a doubt authenticate, the readily offer their own check mark. Though unfortunately their check mark only appears on the list on their site and doesn’t translate to the Twitter avatar.

However, Twitter not verifying is quickly becoming a mute point because they are no longer verifying accounts. Since the change to New Twitter, many verified accounts have even lost their prized check mark.  Though support@twitter does say they are restoring them to their rightful owners.

The change to new twitter seems to come with the promise of a change to the verification system.  Apparently the verification system was in its beta form and Twitter will be rolling out a new and improved system.  Maybe this new verification system will be more open to verifying adult stars who have worked hard for name recognition and deserve to have that little blue check mark!
